Dankook University wraps up the MBC Bae with a win.
Dankook University won 86-66 against Chosun University in the Group C preliminary round of the 40th MBC Varsity National Collegiate Basketball Championship at the new Sangju Gymnasium on Feb. 22.
Dankook, which was riddled with injuries leading up to the tournament, lost both its previous games against Hanyang University and Korea University to fall short of advancing to the quarterfinals, 사설 토토사이트 but won the final game of the tournament to secure the victory.
Coach Seok Seung-ho said, “When we came down to Sangju, we were worried because we had a lot of injuries. We didn’t have a leading guard in the front line, so we trained Jimin (Hwang) a lot. In the end, he came here and made a lot of good plays. I’m very satisfied,” he said after the victory.
“Now we’re going to go up and play in the semifinals. I think the injured players will be able to return, so we can gain more experience,” he added.
When asked what he would like to improve on, Seok said, “I think we’ll know what we’re lacking when the players come back, but we can come back as a whole when the second half starts. In the first half, there were a lot of situations like who came back and who went out. We played a lot of players who didn’t play in the MBC Varsity, and we didn’t have enough players, so we just played zone defense, which was not easy.”
The growth of first-year guard Hwang Jimin was impressive.
“When I saw him recently, I wanted to see if he could be this good,” said Seok. ”He’s a first-year player, so I tell him to be confident. I’ve been playing a lot of 2-on-2s lately, and even if the opponent slides through, I’m telling him to take the shot. I need to add weight and work on my slow feet.”
