The South Korean national soccer team has completed the formation of its domestic coaching staff.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced on Saturday that Park Gun-ha (53), former head coach of Suwon Samsung, Kim Dong-jin (42), acting head coach of Kitchee (Hong Kong), and Kim Jin-kyu (39), head of the FC Seoul Power Enhancement Department, have been appointed as national team coaches.
Goalkeeping coach Yang Young-min (50), who was with the national team during the two matches against China and Singapore at the 2026 North American Football Confederations Cup second qualifying round in June under an interim management, and physical coaches Lee Jae-hong (41) and Jeong Hyun-kyu (37) will also join the team to assist 토토 Hong Myung-bo.
Coach Park Gun-ha was initially reported to have the title of ‘head coach’.
“The foreign coaching staff, which is currently in the final stages of negotiations, will be announced next week,” said an official from the KFA, adding, ”The head coach position will be finalized once the foreign coaches are hired.”
Park, a veteran coach with Seoul Eland and Suwon, has a close relationship with Hong.
He assisted Hong at the helm of the U-23 national team from 2011-2012, helping the team win a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
He also worked with Hong as he took charge of the A team as they challenged for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Park joined the national team as head coach for the second World Cup qualifier in June.
Kim Dong-jin, a former national team defender, made his professional debut with FC Seoul’s predecessor club, LG Cheetahs, in 2000 and went on to play for Zenit (Russia), Hangzhou (China), Muangthong (Thailand) and Eland.
He retired from coaching in 2018 and has been coaching since then.
Kim Jin-kyu is a former national team defender who captained and provided leadership at all levels of the national team and clubs during his playing career. Since retiring in 2017, he has held various positions in Seoul, including coach, acting head coach, and head of strength and conditioning.
The new coaches will begin their first action with the national team on Saturday, watching the K League 1 27th round match.
Hong will travel to Seoul World Cup Stadium to watch Seoul take on Jeju United in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
Park will travel down to Daegu to watch Daegu FC take on Gimcheon Commerce, which kicks off at the same time.
