Tottenham Hotspur (England) earned a 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in a pre-season match in the English Professional Soccer (EPL) despite ‘Captain’ Son Heung-min missing two scoring chances.
Tottenham defeated QPR 2-0 at Loftus Road Stadium in London, England, on Sept. 21, thanks to goals from Yves Bissouma and Dane Scarlett.
Tottenham, who defeated Hearts of Midlothian (Scotland) 5-1 on Sept. 18, continued their winning streak in preseason matches for the 2024-2025 season by defeating QPR of the English Championship (Second Division).
Earlier in the day, Spurs continued their winning ways ahead of the new season with a 7-2 victory over third-tier Cambridge United in a behind-closed-doors friendly.
Tottenham will play an exhibition match against Bissell Kobe at Tokyo National Stadium in Japan on May 27 before kicking off the Coupang Play Series against Team K League at Seoul World Cup Stadium on May 31.
Against QPR, Son was unlucky to miss two crucial scoring chances.
Son failed to score in the 28th minute when Brennan Johnson crossed from the right side of the penalty area and Son connected with a left-footed shot from the front of the goal area, but the goalkeeper made the save.
Tottenham nearly broke the deadlock in the 30th minute when QPR’s Raheem Sterling’s right-footed shot from the left side of the penalty area struck the crossbar after being saved by the goalkeeper’s fingertips.
Tottenham rallied back to break the deadlock in the 41st minute when Bissouma opened the scoring for QPR with a left-footed strike after cutting in from the left side of the goal area.
Son Heung-min was denied a second goal in the 44th minute on the counter-attack when he turned onto his right foot from the right side of the penalty area to meet Pedro Foro’s grounded cross from the right side of the penalty area.
With the score at 1-0 at the break, Tottenham manager Anzhi Postecoglou made a number of changes for the second half, including replacing Son Heung-min with Will Hackshire.
Tottenham drove home the winner in the 42nd minute when Mikey Moore’s left-footed cross from the left flank was met by Scarlett, who surged forward from the right side of the goal area and slotted home with his right foot. 토토사이트
