Swansea City and Stoke City, both of the English Professional Football Championship (Division 2), have advanced to the second round of the Carabao Cup (EFL Cup). Swansea’s Eom Ji-Sung recorded his debut assist, while Stoke’s Bae Jun-Ho missed out due to injury.
Swansea advanced to the second round of the 2024-2025 EFL Cup with a 3-1 first-leg victory over Gillingham (Division 4) at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea, Wales, on Thursday at 3:45 a.m. ET.
After coming on as a substitute in the 27th minute of the second half, Uhm set up the winner in the 51st minute with a pass to Azim Abdulai after receiving a cross inside the penalty box.
Last month, Uhm joined Swansea from K League One side Gwangju FC, becoming the club’s second South Korean player to sign for the club, joining former longtime star Ki Sung-yueng (Seoul).
He was given the number 10 shirt, symbolizing the ace, and in just his second game since joining the club, he provided an assist in the win.
Uhm continued his hot streak last weekend, 파워볼실시간 scoring his first offensive point in the League Cup after playing nearly full-time in the league opener against Middlesbrough.
On the same day, Stoke defeated Carlisle United (4th Division) 2-0 at Brunton Park in Carlisle, England.
Bae did not play in the match, following his recent thigh injury that kept him out of the league opener.
Stoke boss Steven Schumacher had previously stated that the club would not be pushing him to make a full return, saying, “He has trained on the grass but it’s too early to make a decision on his availability.”
Stoke will be without ace Bae Joon-Ho, but goals from Freddie Anderson and Emre Tezgel secured the win and a place in the second round.
Meanwhile, Birmingham City’s Seung-Ho Paik came on as a substitute against Charlton Athletic (3rd Division) and played around 30 minutes.
With Baek anchoring the midfield, Birmingham defeated Charlton thanks to a Brandon Kella goal to advance to the second round.
