The fifth round of the K League 2 has some big matches.
First up in Round 5 is a match between league leaders Chungnam Asan and Seongnam, who are coming off their first win of the season.
The home team has recently beaten Gyeongnam and Chungbuk Cheongju to take the lead in the league. In the fourth round, the team scored four goals in a 4-1 victory over Chungbuk Cheongju, with Kang Min-kyu (two goals), Lee Hak-min, and Hwang Ki-wook all scoring. Chungnam Asan boasts a prolific offense, scoring eight goals in four games, with the goals coming from six different players.
The good news for Chungnam Asan is the imminent return of key players who have been sidelined with injuries. Park Se-jik came on late in the last round to get a feel for the game, while Song Seung-min, Jang Jun-young, and Choi Chi-won are also expected to return. That’s why we’re looking forward to seeing what Chungnam Asan can do.
The visitors picked up their first win of the season in the fourth round, a 2-1 victory over Gimpo under acting head coach Choi Chul-woo. After Huiz’s debut goal, Park Ji-won scored his first goal of the season to break the deadlock. Seongnam had scored just one goal in three matches, with one draw and two losses, heading into the fourth round, but that changed against Gimpo.
Throughout the match
Seongnam used aggressive forward pressure and quick counterattacks to deny Gimpo any chances to attack, and with a high percentage of possession (65%), 스포츠토토 they were constantly on the attack, resulting in seven shots on target out of 15 shots on goal. Seongnam will look to continue their improved performance against Gimpo in this match.
Meanwhile, Chungnam Asan and Seongnam were evenly matched last season with one win, one draw and one loss. The match between Chungnam Asan, who are looking to consolidate their lead, and Seongnam, who are looking to extend their winning streak, will take place at 4:30 p.m. on June 6 at the Yi Sunshin Sports Complex.
Busan won 1-0 in Suwon in the fourth round. Pesin scored the game-winning goal to give Busan a valuable three points away from Suwon.
Busan is in seventh place (6 points) with two wins and two losses since the start of the season, but they are level on points with fifth-place Seoul Eiland and just one point behind first-place Chungnam Asan, so they can leapfrog into the top half of the table at any time.
What Busan needs right now is a little more goal-scoring precision
Busan has scored five goals in their first four matches, which is 1.25 goals per game, but their offensive numbers are even more impressive.
Busan ranks first in expected goals (xG value of 6.98), shots (74), shots on target (30), and passes into the attacking third (150) out of 13 teams in K-League 2, and plays a fiery attacking style of soccer every game. If they can find the back of the net, Busan’s ranking could climb vertically.
Meanwhile, Busan has a hat-trick of goals from Kim Chan, Pesin, and Lamas, and will need to rely on the likes of Ahn Byung-joon and Lopez, who have yet to find the back of the net.
Meanwhile, Busan’s fifth-round opponent is Jeonnam. Jeonnam has been on a roll lately with back-to-back wins over Gimpo and Chunan.
The two teams split last season with one win, one draw, and one loss, but will be looking for a win in this matchup. The first match of the season between Busan and Jeonnam will take place on July 7 at 2 p.m. at Busan Asiad Stadium.
