“Winning the Korean Series is a thing of the past… Next year is important”

LG Twins’ pennant-winning center fielder Oh Ji-hwan (33) will continue his winning ways in the 2024 season.

The 2023 Magoo Magoo Real Glove Awards, an awards ceremony organized by the Korea Professional Baseball Players Association (KPBA) with the participation of Korean professional baseball players, was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on April 1.

The five players with the most innings played in each position were selected as nominees, and the final winner was determined by the active players themselves, who voted for the player who showed the most outstanding defense this season.

Oh Ji-hwan failed to win the shortstop Real Glove award.

However, he made up for it by winning the Best Keystone Combination Award alongside second baseman Shin Min-jae.

“My (second base) partner has changed a lot over the years. Shin Min-jae did a really good job in the atmosphere where the second baseman was settling down. Even when I misplayed a ball, he caught it and handled it well,” he said.

“I was planning to spend time with my family after the season, but I didn’t realize how busy I would be. I feel good, but I’m too busy,” Oh laughed.

He said he thinks about his victory before going to sleep.

“I think about the win a lot before I go to sleep,” he said. I rewind the video and watch YouTube. I think about how I felt at the time, but I see more of the fans’ fondness for it,” he said honestly.

However, he emphasized that winning the Korean Series is already in the past.

“I’m on top after 29 years. I want to finish with the feeling of being on top. The championship is in the past. 먹튀검증토토사이트 The present is important, so I’m going to prepare well for next year’s season.”

LG’s Park Dong-won won the Catcher of the Year award.

He said, “I didn’t expect the award at all. I’m sorry that I didn’t express my gratitude to the players well,” he said. “I’m very happy, and I think I’ll have to work hard next year.”

He also suggested that Im Chan-kyu, who is about to sign a free-agent contract, play with him at LG.

Park Dong-won said, “I don’t think LG should be without Im Chan-kyu. If I leave LG, our hitters will not let me go. I’ll have to be prepared for my ERA to go up,” he laughed.
