The Doosan Bears pulled off a dramatic come-from-behind victory to move to 30 wins.
Doosan came from behind to win 7-5 against the Kia Tigers of the 2024 Baseball Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) SOL Bank Baseball League at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field on Thursday. Doosan capitalized on its chances in the first inning. In the top of the first inning, Jeon Min-jae and Kang Seung-ho led off with back-to-back singles. In the second inning, Yang Seok-hwan hit a deflected ball that landed in front of the right fielder for a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second inning, Cho Sung-soo singled to center, stole second and came home on Jeon Min-jae’s infield single to make it 2-0.
In the third inning, Kim Jae-hwan drew a fastball from Hwang Dong-ha for a leadoff single. The pitch was in the middle of the plate in a full count, and Doosan’s offense was relentless, scoring all three runs in the second inning. It was enough to win the game, as starter Kwak Bin was pitching powerfully.
The KIA bats were lethargic. In the bottom of the first inning, Park Chan-ho reached first base on an error by the shortstop and tried to steal second, but Kim Do-young and Na Sung-beom struck out and Park failed to steal. In the third inning, Kim Sun-bin doubled, but Han Jun-soo, Choi Won-joon, and Park Chan-ho were thrown out at the plate. With the deficit deep, the eighth inning saw Kwak Bin go down and Kim Taek-yeon come up.
