NC starters all hit and score in big way…blowout LG 14-1
The NC Dinos exploded for hits and runs in their first game of the season.
NC pounded out 19 hits, including two home runs, to defeat the first-place LG Twins 14-1 in their 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League home game at Changwon NC Park on May 25.
NC’s record of all hits and all runs scored by a starter is a feat that has only been accomplished 87 times in history.
Against LG starter Choi Won-tae, NC’s bats caught fire in the first inning.
With runners on first and second, Jason Martin ignited the fire with a single to left, and Kwon Hee-dong and Do Tae-hoon followed with back-to-back singles to give NC a 3-0 lead.
With runners on first and third in the third inning, NC scored four runs on Kim Joo-won’s double to left center, Ahn Jung-yeol’s RBI single, and Son Ah-seob’s RBI single to center to take a 7-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Kim Joo-won added four more runs with a leadoff triple and a two-run double to make it 11-0, followed by Martin’s game-winning two-run arch to left in the fifth and Ahn Jung-yeol’s solo shot to left in the sixth.
Martin had three hits and three RBIs, Kim Joo-won had four, and Ahn Jung-yeol and Son As-seop had two.
LG broke the shutout in the top of the seventh with a solo home run to left-center field by Austin Dean.
NC starter Eric Peddie pitched seven strong innings of one-run ball, striking out seven, to improve to 16-5 on the season.
