Jose Mourinho is not likely to be sacked, according to reports.
“Despite Roma’s very poor start to the season, there is no danger of Mourinho being sacked,” Italy’s Corriere della Sera reported on Tuesday. Roma president Dan Friedkin is not considering the possibility,” the newspaper reported.
“Mourinho’s contract expires in the summer of 2024. At least for now, Mourinho is not thinking about resigning.”
Mourinho’s Roma suffered a 1-4 defeat at Genoa on September 29. They conceded two goals in the first half and two in the second.
Worst start ever. Aside from a 7-0 thrashing at Empoli, Roma hasn’t managed to pick up a win. They also didn’t face a particularly strong opponent, aside from AC Milan, and only managed to pick up five points. They slipped to 16th place in the standings.
Mourinho’s “third-year jinx” seems to be kicking in. Mourinho has been known to struggle in his third season at Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United. This time around, there are ominous signs.
According to the Corriere della Sera, there is no possibility of a sacking or resignation. Not only is it still early in the season, but Mourinho’s contract runs until the summer of 2024. It’s also premature, given the club’s success in Europe over the past two seasons.
In his post-match press conference, Mourinho said, “This is the worst start to a season in my career. “We are a team with qualities and flaws at the same time,” Mourinho said, “but we are also the first team in the history of the club to reach two European 안전놀이터 finals in a row. Roma will next play at home against Frosinone on October 2. Frosinone are in eighth place with two wins, three draws and one loss in their last six games (9 points).
